About Me

Hello! I’m Julia, a third-year Computer Science student pursuing a minor in Education. I currently work at UVic’s Computer Help Desk, so if you’ve ever called, emailed, or stopped by in person, I might have been the one helping you out.

I strongly believe that communication is a crucial skill in today’s work environment. That belief is what led me to pursue a minor in Education, where I’m strengthening my learning, teaching, and communication skills to better support myself and others in professional and collaborative environments.

I was born in Brazil but moved to Canada at the age of 11. I grew up speaking Portuguese as my native tongue, but over the years, English has become my primary language. I’m a very social person who enjoys meeting new people and experiencing new things.

In my free time, I love staying active. I boulder a couple of times a week at BoulderHouse, and I’ve been climbing consistently for about 2 years. I still have lots of room for improvement, but I’m hoping to bring my climbing outdoors this summer! I’m also working toward getting my belaying licence so I can try top-rope and lead climbing.

Whenever the weather allows, I also love going on hikes. Living in such a beautiful area motivates me to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Nothing beats reaching the summit, then hopping in a lake after coming back down (only in the summer, of course).
